Welcome to the Biker Brit website and blog…

A Message From Biker Brit
I am a lifelong biker, and I am still as enthused as I was when I rode my first motorcycle.
Been Riding Since
1981
Motorcycling is my passion in life. It has been hugely rewarding.
These days I tend to ride solo. Many-a-reason behind that choice, but it’s mostly about stops for filming and some ‘me-time’. Hence.
I am an not an expert on any subject, nor do I not claim to be; I am just a humble biker.
So, I am just an enthusiast the same as everyone else!
To keep exploring and finding places anew. Whether here in the UK, or in the EU, there’s always somewhere that appeals.
The ride is always the highlight.
Especially so nowadays; keeping a mental equilibrium is my primary focus. Everything else is a bonus right?
To enjoy the whole process: from the planning of one’s itinerary; actually riding the route created; and enjoying your motorcycle!
My motorcycle journey started back in 1970, riding pillion with my dad.
But, in 1981, I was on a Suzuki TS50 ER XK, which feels like yesterday to me.
I passed my motorcycle test in March 1982 on a Yamaha RD250LC: the last year of learners being able to use a 250cc, before 125cc ‘bikes became mandatory in 1983.
I have owned many bikes over the years:
- Yamaha RD 250/350 LC’s
- Honda 400/4
- Honda CB 900 F2 Bol Dor
- Honda CBR 1000F
- Honda Fireblade – 2nd iteration & others
- Kawasaki ZX12R
- Kawasaki ZZR 11/12/1400
- Kawasaki ZX 900 E2
- Honda ST 1300 Pan European
- KTM 660 SMR
- Yamaha XT 600
- BMW K1200 R
- BMW R1200 GS TE (Current bike)
- Plus lots of others in-between.
My next bike will be either another adventure bike, or a tourer.
Still very much looking at the BMW R1250 GS/GSA/RT models. I like the boxer engine, and it’s visceral predisposition.
Also, I am thinking of going old-school – perhaps acquiring a Honda Blackbird, or another ZZR 1400 – very different propositions indeed.
European travel is no stranger to me. I enjoy touring there very much; having visited most countries on the continent.
I rode to Greece once, and enjoyed it so much, I stayed there on an island for six months! Pre-Brexit of course…
Biking is a great therapy.
So, with that in mind I try to make the most of my time on the ‘bike. Enjoying every moment, and making those ‘moments-into-memories’.
Especially so for anyone with any type of mental health issue; such as ‘post-trauma’ like myself (treated): depression; anxiety; stress; panic disorder and similar.
The clichés about ‘freedom’ and the ‘open road’, all ring true.
Sometimes, being alone and enjoying the ride is all the solace and peace one needs.
Mental health is a highly subjective topic. We are all very different indeed, but never assume you are immune – you’re not.
Obviously, I am not a qualified therapist. Though I am speaking as someone who’s had extensive therapy; which if you engage in with commitment, it really is very progressive and rewarding.
Full credit to the therapists and other professionals for their work – often dealing with delicate and / or complex issues.
Personal gratitude is extended to my most recent therapist. She was very insightful; helping me to ‘navigate’ my way through the myriad of matters pertinent.
Keeping myself busy with the blog, and editing the videos are both activities that are very cathartic for me.
I am no Luddite, so the technical elements of the website and the video-editing are [usually] very enjoyable.
There’s no financial motivation for me; just the sharing with others and enjoying the journey, wherever that make take me…

My present activities
Day trips, weekenders, and full tours. Join me on my adventures, you are most welcome.
